The installation was born from the research on a new perception of architecture through different sensorial stimuli, creating innovative surfaces and spaces which make the inhabitants discover the space he lives in through feelings and perceptions (hearing, smell, touch are the senses involved beyond the sight). The project is a voyage which aims to bring the visitor through something which combines architecture (Apollonian approach) and art (Dionysian approach ) through a sensorial approach, where sculptures are pillars, walls are soft surfaces ready to be touched, and echoes are ready to be listened to. To go beyond the apparent dichotomy, for the moment, we will call it, art-itecture.
„Artzycka Echoes”, the art-itectural installation hosted in Cà Zanardi in Palazzo Cà Zanardi, is the re-interpretation of the competition project for the contemporary art museum in the ancient castle of Favignana. The rooms, the paths, the project metamorphosed in something else, to bring his sounds and perspective from the Mediterranean island until Venice’s Laguna.
The small voyage aims to bring the visitor through something which combines art and architecture through a sensorial approach, where sculptures are pillars, walls are soft surfaces ready to be touched, and echoes are ready to be listened to.
The project aim was to bring artist and visitors through journeys of sensorial architecture, where every level of the castle was linked to a different sensorial stimulation and sense. The rooms that you can see are a selection of the 3 projects paths: ”De Structura” (Sense: Touch), ”Being present by disappearing” (Sense: Sight) and „Echoes of Resonance”(Sense: Hearing).
By watching images, touching materials, hearing music and sounds the visitor is invited to have a further look and perception into the architectural project, getting closer to it by starting to ‘’feel’’ it.
